Faddy Exercise Machines.
Hands up whose bought an exercise machine? I'm not talking about rowing machines or treadmills these are great machines, with very valid uses. I'm talking about what I call ?lifestyle exercise equipment'; machines that are designed to work on a specific part of your anatomy. Machines that tell you that in just 5 minutes 3 times a week they will give you abs like Bruce Lee.It's not going to happen. These machines pander to your vanity, the pictures on the boxes show models stripped to the waist with physiques carved out of stone. I'll tell you something; they didn't get it using those machines. The cover models on the boxes get it from 5 day a week 4 hours a day exercise regimes, with carefully controlled food intake. That's the really annoying aspect of it all, on their infomercials with budgets in the hundreds of thousands, you see in the background people with ?perfect' model bodies and great tans ?working out' on the latest exercise sensation.
These half hour long presentations often only pay a passing mention to one of the main reasons for sustained and healthy weight loss; the importance of what you eat and calorie control. Did you know that if you really want to see your abs, you know ? get yourself a great six-pack; you have to get your body fat down to around 7 to 10 percent. Let me tell you that if you normally tuck a shirt in and then play it out around your waist to hide your belly, then you are probably a way off. What it all boils down to is if you want to achieve better health the latest fad isn't going to help you. It really comes down to hard work and commitment.
Think about it it's the only way you really achieve anything in life, by setting a goal and working until you achieve it..

Programming Brief: Exercise OrderByOne of the fundamental principles of exercise prescription, specifically resistance training, is the principle of exercise order. Which exercises do I do first? Which do I do last? Does exercise order really matter? From personal observations in the weight room, it would seem to many it doesn't matter. However, if you want an effective exercise program you must consider the order of the exercises.Multi-joint ExercisesAs a general rule you should perform complex multi-joint exercises first in your exercise routine while you are fresh. Typically, multi-joint movements require more skill and energy to perform. Such exercises include squats, deadlifts, bench presses, and pull-ups.
Nothing annoys me more than seeing someone perform bicep curls until their head explodes, then go right into lat pulldowns (notice, lat pulldowns, not pull-ups?anyone who does pull-ups knows better than to work their biceps beforehand).Of course, there are exceptions to...

AEROBIC EXERCISE
We've all been hearing about the health benefits of regular
aerobic exercise and eating properly. According to numerous
online sources, aerobic exercise includes activity that
makes the heart and lungs worker harder than they do at rest
for a continuous period of time.
There are many types of aerobic exercise to choose from including
dancing, skating, skiing, running, walking, bicycling, stair climbing
and swimming. Aerobic exercise videos are another option that
can be used in the privacy of one's home, and provide a
beneficial workout that gets the heart pumping. Going to the
gym is not always an option, nor is it necessary.
People can
get aerobic exercise at home, at work, or at school.
Many larger companies offer employees work out facilities and
running tracks as well as walking paths around their
campuses. In fact,...

This is the starting position. Now clasp your hands behind your head and wrench your neck as far forward as you...

Exercise for a Healthy Heart
Do you exercise every day? If you want to live a long, healthy life, maybe you should. A recent study by Timothy Wessel, a physician at the University of Florida, indicates one of the strongest risk factors for developing heart disease is inactivity ? even more so than being overweight. During the four-year study of 906 women, Dr. Wessel documented those who were moderately active were less likely to develop heart disease than sedentary women, no matter how much they weighed. The study concluded: "These results suggest that fitness may be more important than overweight or obesity for cardiovascular risk in women." In January, the updated U.S.
Dietary Guidelines strongly urged that everyone should take part in "at least 30 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity" on most days, above whatever activities they do at home or work. To loose weight or to avoid gaining weight as we age, 60 minutes of daily moderate to vigorous exercise is recommended. And those who have already...
